Robert Indiana (1928-2018) was an American artist associated with the Pop Art movement. He is best known for his “LOVE” series of paintings, sculptures, and graphic works. The iconic image features the word “LOVE” in block letters with the “O” tilted at an angle. The image first appeared in a Christmas card in 1965 and quickly became one of the most recognizable works of the 20th century. Indiana’s work often explores themes of Americana, identity, and consumerism, and his use of bold, colorful letters and numbers has had a lasting impact on the art world. He was widely recognized for his contributions to American art and culture, and his works are held in collections in museums around the world.
