What does the “ANTONIO TAXCO inside a crown, with the Mexican eagle numbered 17, 970 and SILVER or STERLING, HECHO EN MEXICO” mark mean?

Antonio Pineda trained in Spratling's workshop and opened his own Taxco shop, called Antonio, in 1941. His best known mark is a crown enclosing ANTONIO TAXCO. Look for the government eagle numbered 17 beside it and a 970 fineness stamp, his favorite standard, which is purer than sterling. Many pieces also read HECHO EN MEXICO and carry a model number.
