Description

Chrysanthemum is Durgin's showpiece pattern, introduced in 1893. Chrysanthemum blossoms and foliage crowd the handle, often around a cartouche left open for a monogram, and the back of the handle is decorated as well. On serving pieces the flowers continue onto the shoulders and sometimes across the tines, and many servers were gilded. You will usually find Durgin's D with STERLING, 925/1000 and PATENT on the back. Some pieces also carry the name of the jeweler who retailed them.
